Cathrine R. A. Wingate, L.Ac. MSOM, Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii (2010), NCMT (2004), AS, City University (1990)

I am a licensed Acupuncturist with a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine. I offer all aspects of a traditional Acupuncture practice including Acupressure, herbs, Qigong, Moxibustion, Cupping, Gua Sha, and Tui Na massage. I have been a nationally certified Massage Therapist (NCTMB) with specialized training in Tui Na, a form of Chinese medical massage. I am certified in Medical Qigong, utilizing this energy medicine as part of each Acupuncture treatment. I also teach Qigong classes at the Center. Each class includes group discussion, gentle stretching, Qigong exercises and meditation. Classes are designed for any age and any physical condition.

I do not accept health insurance, unless you are a United States Veteran. As a Veteran myself, offering this service is cornerstone of my practice. Please refer to the “Are You a Veteran” link on this website for further information.  I will consider Worker’s Comp (state and federal), Liability (person injury) and No Fault (auto accident) insurance on a case by case basis only.  I offer a 10% for active duty first responders, including Police Officers, Fire Fighters, EMS and Military Personal that do not wish to utilize the VA authorization procedure. Please contact me to verify if you qualify under these restrictions – prior to your appointment.

I became the owner of East Hawaii Acupuncture, LLC in May of 2010. I was fortunate to be asked to work as part of the healthcare team at Hilo Natural Health Clinic, which I did until October of 2013. While growing my practice, I taught a myriad of classes at the local acupuncture college for several years, given lectures at the University of Hawaii and participated in various workshops. I have been a member of the Hilo chapter of BNI International, Toastmasters International and a member of the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce. I am an active member of the Hawaii Acupuncture Association .

In October 2013, I purchased this beautiful, historic building on Komohana Street.  With the help of a lot of talented people, this home was lovingly restored to the Wellness Center you see today.  This beautiful property has allowed me to expand my own practice and to also include other, diverse practitioners – all under the convenience of one roof!  We offer Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Massage, as well as classes in Qigong and Meditation. The grounds around the Center showcase diverse flower, medicinal plants and trees that you are more than welcome to walk around and enjoy.

I have a rich & diverse background having worked many years in sales & customer service. I have an honorable discharge from the United States Navy. Over time I have been employed in both the federal & private sectors as well as having owned and operated 3 successful businesses.

What I love most about coming into the field of acupuncture later in life is that it has afforded me time to learn & grow as a person. All the experiences I’ve had, all that I have learned along the way, gives my practice depth and a large field of knowledge on which to draw upon to help my patients & my students.

Working with other health care providers under the same roof, gives our patients expanded choices for their healthcare. We have the ability to learn from each other, and in times of need, we can refer our patients to providers we trust & love. This makes you our number one priority when you walk in our door.

Being a part of a greater whole, is truly a blessing.
